Finding the route…
We plan Umrah for families and groups from Pakistan, with the same honest, step-by-step guidance you see in Hafiz Tayyab's Makkah and Madinah vlogs.
Set by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. Visas and entry stop before Hajj, and you must leave by the final date.
Book a package through a company approved by Pakistan's Ministry of Religious Affairs. It files your visa on Saudi Arabia's Nusuk system with your hotel and transport. This is the normal route for a Pakistani passport.
A Pakistani passport alone does not qualify. You can get the tourist e-visa if you hold a valid US, UK or Schengen visa, or live in the US, UK, EU or a Gulf country. You can do Umrah on it outside Hajj season, with a Nusuk Umrah permit.
Saudi Arabia's umrah.nusuk.sa sells packages with the visa. Availability for Pakistani residents is not clear, so check it first; if no package shows, use a licensed company.
Valid for at least 6 months, plus a CNIC copy and photos with a white background.
Required. Take it at least 10 days before you arrive in Saudi Arabia.
Required for travellers from Pakistan at any age: one dose at least 4 weeks before arrival, written on your international vaccination certificate.
Airports in Pakistan now check it before boarding Umrah flights (started at Karachi in 2026). Get it before your flight, it costs about Rs 100.
Keep printed copies with your visa and insurance. FIA asks for them at the airport, and missing papers can get you offloaded.
Saudi Arabia asks pilgrims to be fit enough to perform Umrah. Older travellers and those with chronic illness should carry their medical papers and medicines.
Wear the ihram before your flight leaves Pakistan. Flights cross the miqat before Jeddah, so make your niyyah when the crew announces it, then start the Talbiyah.
Seven rounds around the Kaaba, anticlockwise, starting from the Black Stone. Then pray two rak'ah.
Seven laps between Safa and Marwah, starting at Safa and ending at Marwah.
Men shave or shorten the hair; women cut about a fingertip's length. Your Umrah is complete.
Every pilgrim needs one, on any visa. It is free and issued in the Nusuk app. In Ramadan book it 3–4 weeks ahead.
Visiting the Rawdah in Masjid-e-Nabwi needs a free Nusuk permit with a time slot. Each person needs their own, and you should arrive early. Entering the Masjid itself needs no permit.
Jeddah airport to Makkah in about 35–50 minutes (around SAR 40–65). Makkah to Madinah in about 2½ hours (around SAR 145–200 economy). Book on sar.hhr.sa; Ramadan fares are higher.
Makkah to Madinah from about SAR 70–95. Most Umrah packages already include bus transport between Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah.
Cheap city buses link the Haram with hotels and ziyarat sites. Pay by app, machine or card.
Short city rides are about SAR 15–35 but get more expensive right after prayers. Shared taxis to Madinah are about SAR 35–50 a person.
The mildest weather of the year. A good window before Ramadan 1448, which starts around February 2027.
The most blessed and the most crowded. Packages, hotels and trains cost the most, so book early.
Often above 40°C. Cheaper, but tiring for elderly parents.
Prices change with the season, airline and hotel distance from the Haram. Ask for a written quote with everything included.
Check that your company is on the Ministry of Religious Affairs list. Complaints are only heard against approved companies.
Pay into the company's registered bank account, not cash to a sub-agent, and keep the agreement.
A hotel booked outside Nusuk cannot get a visa. Offers for Hajj on an Umrah or visit visa are illegal and heavily fined.
Overstaying brings fines, jail and deportation. Check your return date before you book.
Flight routes to Saudi Arabia sometimes change. Confirm your flight with the airline a few days before you travel.

Yes. Saudi Arabia removed the mahram requirement for Umrah in 2022, and women can travel alone or in a group. Your Umrah company may still have its own rules, so ask them.
Up to 90 days, with no extension, and never past the season's final departure date (7 April 2027 for this season).
No. Only the Rawdah (Riaz ul Jannah) needs a Nusuk permit with a time slot.
Shared taxis leave from the parking area near Al-Hijrah Road and Shabeeha Road in Makkah. Ask for Madinah; the fare is usually 35 to 50 riyal per person and the trip takes 3 to 4 hours.
It opens after Fajr and after Asr. Men can go inside; women can see it from outside the gate.
Tickets cost 25 riyal. It is near Gate 305 of Masjid-e-Nabwi. The audio guide was in Arabic when we visited.
Yes, some. Money exchanges near the Haram can be closed late at night and airport rates are usually higher.
Rules last checked in October 2026 from Saudi and Pakistani official announcements and news. Rules change, so confirm with your Umrah company before you pay.
