Madinah Ziyarat Guide: The 10-Riyal Bus Tour, Uhud, Quba, Jannat al-Baqi, Bi'r Ghars and Badr
Every Madinah ziyarat I've done, with how to get there: the 10-riyal pilgrim bus after Fajr, Jannat al-Baqi after Asr, Bi'r Ghars by night and the 20-riyal coach to Badr.

Madinah is calm, close and easy on the budget. Over several trips I've done almost every ziyarat around the city. Here's how, with what it cost.
The 10-riyal ziyarat bus
Right after Fajr, local pilgrim buses leave near Masjid an-Nabawi for a loop of the main sites. Ours cost 10 riyal.
The stops, in order:
- Mount Uhud: the battlefield, and the resting place of Sayyidna Hamza (R.A) with the martyrs of Uhud.
- Masjid al-Qiblatain: the mosque where the direction of prayer was changed from Masjid al-Aqsa to the Kaaba.
- The Saba Masajid (Seven Mosques) at Khandaq: the site of the trench dug to defend Madinah.
- Masjid Quba: the first mosque in Islam. Pray two rakat here; there's great reward in it.
- The garden of Hazrat Usman (R.A): date palms that still belong to his endowment. You'll see fresh dates on the trees.
Private tours are more expensive; one we saw advertised was 80 SAR. The 10-riyal bus covers the same main stops.
Jannat al-Baqi, after Asr
Jannat al-Baqi is right next to Masjid an-Nabawi. I went after Asr, through the crowd barriers near the Green Dome.
Inside you'll see simple sand mounds in the sunnah way, small markers identifying graves, and the fenced area around the resting place of Hazrat Usman Ghani (R.A). In Ramadan the crowds are huge; outside peak season it's far more peaceful.
Bi'r Ghars, the Prophet's well
Bi'r Ghars is on Ali Ibn Abi Talib Road near Masjid Quba. It's the well whose water the Prophet ﷺ liked to drink and use for wudu, and which he asked to be used for his final ghusl.
We went at 3 AM. You can see the old stone well, the steps going down and a small prayer room next to it.
Badr: a day trip from Madinah
Badr is where the first great battle of Islam was fought. I took a 20 SAR local coach from Madinah.
At Badr:
- The resting place of the 14 martyrs of Badr
- Masjid Al-Areesh, where the Prophet ﷺ made dua through the night
- Jabal-e-Malaikah, the Mountain of Angels
- The filled-in well of Badr
Before Iftar at Masjid an-Nabawi
If you're in Madinah in Ramadan, arrive early. Thousands queue for Riaz-ul-Jannah near Bab-un-Nisa, and the area by Bab-us-Salam is tightly managed. Inside, Zamzam coolers line the walls and iftar spreads cover the carpets.
Tips
- Start right after Fajr for the bus tour, before the heat.
- Carry water and a cap. Uhud and Khandaq have little shade.
- Plan Baqi for after Asr.
