Surprising my parents
In Madinah, dressed as an Arab.
If you've seen a bearded traveller with a camera talking to you from the Haram, a Bangkok food hall or a Hunza fort, that's me. My name is Muhammad Tayyab Khalid, and most people know me as Hafiz Tayyab.
I'm from Sargodha, Pakistan. I was born on 3 December 2001, which makes me 24. This post is the whole story so far: where I've been, how I got there, and where to find my videos.
How it started: an Umrah in 2022
My journey began on 5 December 2022, with my first Umrah. I flew Saudia to Jeddah, went to Makkah, Madinah and back to Makkah, and came home on 25 December. I didn't film it, but it's the trip that made me a traveller. Read it here.
2023: Afghanistan and Baku
In the summer of 2023 I went by road to Afghanistan: Sargodha, Islamabad, Peshawar, the Torkham border, and four or five days in Jalalabad. My Iran visa was approved and I planned to continue through Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif, but I turned back for safety. The Afghanistan story.
In August I went back for Umrah with my brother, by train to Karachi and Etihad via Abu Dhabi. When he flew home, I took flynas to Baku and spent almost a month in Azerbaijan, my first solo trip abroad. Umrah 2023 · Baku.
2024: Ramadan, Thailand and Malaysia
I spent Ramadan 2024 in Makkah and Madinah and prayed Eid ul Fitr in front of the Kaaba. Ramadan Umrah.
In May I went to Thailand and Malaysia with Chachu Waleed: 17 hours stuck in Colombo, Bangkok, Phuket, Phi Phi, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Langkawi, and Eid ul Adha in Kuala Lumpur. The full route.

The biggest trip so far:
- Nepal: three days stuck in Sharjah during Nepal's unrest, a 14-hour bus to Pokhara and the Annapurna Base Camp trek. Nepal
- Indonesia: Bali, Nusa Penida, then all of Java by road, through Ijen's blue fire and Mount Bromo. Indonesia
- Saudi Arabia: a missed flight and a taxi from Jeddah to Riyadh, Diriyah, AlUla, and surprising my parents in Madinah. Jeddah to Riyadh · Diriyah · AlUla
2026: Northern Pakistan, and next Uzbekistan
